The 2019 Père Labat rhum agricole vintage, produced by the Poisson distillery on Marie-Galante, an island in the Caribbean, initially matured for four years in bourbon barrels.
In 2023, it was taken on board the sailing cargo ship Tres Hombres to continue its maturation in Porto Tawny and Pedro Ximenez barrels.
After a further maturation period of five months at sea, which gave the rum a characteristic "Tres Hombres" finish, the ship reached Amsterdam. The constant movement at sea intensified the interaction of the rum with the barrels and resulted in a distinctive taste and finish. The bottling took place in Amsterdam in collaboration with the Tres Hombres team.
The bottle labels are adorned with motifs of the Tres Hombres and their adventurous journeys. The bottles are sealed with natural corks and sealed with beeswax.
This wax is enriched with color pigments that are ground from natural materials in a traditional windmill in Zaandam, giving the bottles an authentic and environmentally friendly finish.
