After being distilled from freshly pressed sugar cane juice, this rum first underwent a 5-month maturation phase on land. It was then matured for a further 6 months in selected former Palo Cortado and Moscatel barrels on board the Tres Hombres on the high seas. This unusual method of maturing on a cargo ship gives the rum a distinctive aroma and flavor.<br><br>The owners of Tres Hombres are committed to the principle of "fair transport", in which the rum is transported emission-free and traditionally by sailing ship.
