Description
«The Ileach» — the name means «The Man from Islay» — is actually a Lagavulin of the highest peatiness.
A deep whisky for all connoisseurs who appreciate this or — as it has been said — a lump of peat dissolves in the glass!
The palate develops a wonderful balance of peat, oiliness and a light, bitter-sweet note.
Overwhelming!
In the finish the peat changes into a pleasant bitterness with oak notes.
A fabulous malt. (Jim Murray).
Ileach is pronounced «ILJACH» by the way.
Received the Gold Award of the International Wine & Spirit Competition IWSC.
A very recommendable and inexpensive alternative to Lagavulin.
The smell is dominated by leather, peat and strong smoked ham.
The taste is dominated by the oily structure, strong peat and smoke aromas combined with sweet notes.
The finish is still smoky and intense.
