<p>Foursquare Distillery in Barbados needs little introduction to rum enthusiasts. Under the guidance of Master Distiller Richard Seale, the estate has built a reputation as one of the most respected names in rum, known for its rigorous production standards and its refusal to use added sugar, colouring, or other additives. The MARK XXX PENULTIMUS is another standout release from the distillery's celebrated Exceptional Cask Selection series, and it holds a genuine first for the brand: it is the inaugural Foursquare bottling to be finished in Spanish Moscatel wine casks.</p><p>This single blended rum brings together pot still and column still distillates, initially aged for more than a decade in ex-bourbon barrels. The spirit then spent a further five years resting in ex-Moscatel casks, bringing the total maturation to 15 years. This layered cask journey - American oak followed by the sweeter, wine-influenced Moscatel casks - is designed to give the rum added complexity and refinement.</p><p>Bottled in December 2025 at a robust 57% ABV, the Penultimus was released without chill filtration and without any added colouring or sweetening, staying true to Foursquare's uncompromising house philosophy. Produced in strictly limited quantities, it stands as an authentic expression of premium Barbados rum craftsmanship.</p>
