It owes its name to the Widow Jane Mine in Rosendale, New York, from whose limestone caves the mineral-rich water for its production originates. Maturation takes place in ex-bourbon barrels, which have been supplemented with staves of oak and apple wood to create additional aromatic complexity. As a single cask bottling, each batch is bottled individually, giving each bottle a special, distinctive character.
