Distilled in 2009, Ballechin impressively demonstrates how skillful cask maturation can highlight the versatility of a whisky. After a main maturation in bourbon casks, it was given a rare finish in Huelva Orange Wine Casks, which originate from Andalusia and previously housed aromatic orange wine.
This special liqueur wine, which is refined with bitter oranges from the region, lends the whisky a complex fruity sweetness that blends harmoniously with the strong peat smoke of Ballechin. With an alcohol content of 54.1% vol., the single malt is bottled at natural cask strength, ensuring that its complex aromas are fully preserved. Chill filtration and colorants are deliberately avoided in order to preserve the natural quality.
This combination of smoke and fruit makes the whisky an unmistakable pleasure.
