<p>Bruichladdich Islay Barley 8 Years Old is a fascinating single malt whisky made from 100% barley from the island of Islay. The barley varieties used, Concerto and Propino, thrive in the fields of renowned farms such as Coull, Rockside, Island, Mulindry, Cruach, Dunlossit, Craigens and Sunderland Farms. This whisky is made without peat, which sets it apart from many other Islay whiskies.<br><br>The Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2014 was distilled and matured for over eight years in a combination of first-fill bourbon casks (80%) and a mixture of second-fill sherry butts (5%) and second-fill wine casks (15%). This special maturation gives the whisky its unique complexity and depth.<br><br>With an alcohol content of 50%, the taste of the Islay barley comes into its own and develops a balanced profile with fruity and malty notes.</p><h3>Taster note:</h3><p>Colour: Gold.<br>Nose: Delicate floral notes, ripe grain, pepper notes, fruity stone fruit and coconut, creamy caramel, brown sugar, hazelnuts.<br>Taste: Floral, spicy pepper, caramel, vanilla notes, oak, ripe peaches and honeydew melon.<br>Finish: Long lasting, fruity nuances, vanilla custard, flowers.</p>
