<p><strong>Mombacho 12 years old Sauternes Finish</strong> is named after one of <strong>Nicaragua</strong> 's the most famous volcanoes. Distilled in <strong>2003</strong>, it was bottled in <strong>2015</strong> after benefiting from a finish in barrels that contained <strong>Sauternes</strong> wine. This maturation gives this <strong>column</strong> -distilled <strong>molasses</strong> rum gourmet aromas, which enhance its light character.</p><p>It is also a <strong>single cask</strong> bearing the number 44.</p><h3>Tasting note</h3><p>The nose is divided between aromas of roasting (toasted oak, coffee, etc.) and rounded fruity and spicy notes. The former take over for a while, giving free rein to aromas of toasted and caramelized nuts.</p><p>With aeration, the toasted notes gradually dissipate to give way to toasted bread, then to a slightly more delicious woodiness. The roasting eventually takes over, with blackened nuts and steaming coffee beans.</p><p>The palate is very fluid and suave, and focuses above all on the touch. As in a vodka, the aromas rather give way to the sensations and the texture, which here are completely velvety.
