Grand Vintage Malt 1997 sits in Glenmorangie’s premium Bond House No.1 series, which takes its name from the largest of the 19th-century Bonded Warehouse.

This Glenmorangie Grand Vintage 1997 is the seventh expression of the Bond House N°1 collection, in which the Scottish distillery brings together exceptional and exclusive vintages.

Initially, this whisky was matured for 10 years in ex-bourbon casks before spending the next 13 years in ex-red wine barrels from Château Montrose in the Saint-Estèphe appellation in Bordeaux, France.

It was then married to a combination of whisky aged exclusively in ex-bourbon casks, and another in ex-oloroso sherry casks.

The Single Malt presents a rich, lively and floral aromatic palette with black berry notes characteristic of Saint-Estèphe used for aging.

The box which contains this exceptional vintage is made of wood, the colour of which recalls the colour of the barrels which contained this wine.

TASTING NOTES

Color: Deep Ocher

Aroma: Perfumed and fruity complexity. Floral notes of rose, jasmine and carnation intermingle with soft red fruits, mint toffee, pastry or cake mix and a sweet confectionery top note. With water, even more soft, floral top notes like roses and carnations emerge, with a very subtle spiciness like sweet chili, clove and ginger.

Taste: A slightly tingly, gently spicy mouthfeel is followed by a symphony of sweet candy flavors, more soft red fruits, pineapple chunks and a taste reminiscent of pears and mandarin segments in fruit jelly. There are sweet ginger and chili notes, gentle almond marzipan and vanilla candy apple.

Finish: Sweet, rich, long and gently spicy.
