<p><strong>The name "Tonka Tonka"</strong> alone of this new creation of the Rum Company sounds very promising and like exotic pleasures. As with "Vanilla", this new, aromatic rum was created in close cooperation with the well-known spice miller Ingo Holland <strong>from the "Alten Gewürzamt"</strong> in Klingenberg. With his expert knowledge of spices, the optimal tonka bean was found.</p><p>The beans grow on the <strong>tonka bean tree,</strong> which can reach a height of 30 meters and a trunk diameter of up to one meter. It grows in northern South America, mainly in Brazil, but is also cultivated in Trinidad and tropical Africa. The seeds of this tree are called tonka beans and have <strong>an indescribably delicious, almost beguiling scent.&nbsp;</strong>Their taste is very reminiscent of vanilla, almonds, caramel and marzipan. In its homeland, the tonka bean is also used as a <strong>medicine</strong> or smoked mixed with tobacco to serve as a medicine for the respiratory tract.</p><p>The Rum Company uses them to transform a <strong>long-aged rum with exciting flavor components into a unique spirit.</strong></p><p><strong>Colour:</strong> light amber.</p><p><strong>Scent:</strong> Spicy and sweet at the same time, highly fragrant with pronounced tonka bean.</p><p><strong>Taste:</strong> A clearly mature rum that presents itself as complex and multi-layered. You can tell that it has been waiting for its big appearance in the barrel for several years. It rewards us with the typical aging tones: intense aromas, pronounced notes of wood, powerful mouthfeel. There are also hints of cinnamon and bitter almonds, as well as vanilla and marzipan. Above all, however, is the intense taste of the tonka bean, which can hardly be compared with any other aroma.</p><p><strong>Finish:</strong> Very, very long on the palate. The wood notes combine with the tonka bean and vanilla. Dry finish with little sweetness but clear roasted aromas.</p><p><strong>Conclusion:</strong> &nbsp;The tonka beans were allowed to pass on their wonderful aroma to the spirit in the rum barrels in peace and quiet. The result is an extroverted rum that is particularly able to inspire the nose and palate with its fragrant elegance in the glass.</p>
