<p>Unofficially, the Ardbeg distillery has been distilling since 1794&nbsp;— in&nbsp;1815, the distillery was purchased by&nbsp;John McDougall and officially opened under the name Ardbeg.<br>«Ardbeg» comes from the Gaelic and translated means something like «small hill».<br>The distillery is&nbsp;located on&nbsp;the south coast of&nbsp;the Islay whisky region.</p><p>Since 2017, Weisshaus in&nbsp;Tyrol has had access to&nbsp;rare rarities from the Ardbeg Distillery.<br>Mr. Osler has selected two special barrels on&nbsp;site from the private stocks at&nbsp;Ardbeg.</p><p>This Ardbeg matures for 26 years in&nbsp;refill bourbon barrels.<br>Cask 20 is&nbsp;the last cask distilled before Ardbeg was sold to&nbsp;Glenmorangie.</p><p><strong>Distilled: </strong>January 16, 1996<br><strong>Bottled: </strong>01 March 2022<br><strong>Cask No.: </strong>0020</p><p>This is&nbsp;a&nbsp;limited bottling of&nbsp;84 bottles.</p>
