<p>Black Velvet first saw the light of day in 1951. The brand was originally known as "Black Label", but after Jack Napier, the original distiller, tasted the first batch, he changed the name to Black Velvet to reflect the unusual velvety taste.&nbsp;</p><p>The Blended Whisky is a typical Canadian whisky with a mix of rye, barley and corn.&nbsp;</p><p>It is matured for three years in bourbon casks. The Black Velvet Toasted Caramel is a blend of the original Black Velvet Blended Whisky which is refined with roasted caramel.</p><p><strong>Tasting notes:</strong></p><ul><li>Colour: Light straw gold.&nbsp;</li><li>Nose: Mild-smoky, slightly sweet, caramel, toffee.&nbsp;</li><li>Taste: Velvety, creamy, caramel, vanilla, notes of coconut, rye.&nbsp;</li><li>Finish: Long lasting.</li></ul>
