<p>The history of Picon liqueur began in Africa about 150 years ago.&nbsp;</p><p>A soldier named Gaetan Picon created it in 1837, after his return from Algeria.&nbsp;</p><p>Before he named his creation Picon, it was called Amer African.&nbsp;</p><p>The base of Picon is made from the distillation of orange peel, gentian extract, cinchona bark, sugar, caramel and alcohol.&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Tasting notes:</strong></p><ul><li>Colour: Amber.&nbsp;</li><li>Nose: Fruity, bitter.&nbsp;</li><li>Taste: Complex, oranges, notes of gentian, quinquina.&nbsp;</li><li>Finish: Long lasting.&nbsp;</li></ul><p>Best served neat, on ice, for cocktails or long drinks, but also a pleasure in combination with beer, or simply mix 1/3 Picon to 2/3 white wine.</p>
