<p>The phrase "The Forbidden Rum" is translated as "El Ron Prohibido Rum Habanero" in Spanish.<br>The reason behind this is that Chinguirito Rum, which is made from distillate of Mexican sugar cane that was carried to Spain and kept in barrels of sherry, gained a lot of popularity around the year 1700. Naturally, this infuriated the conventional rum manufacturers.<br>The Royal House outlawed the Chinguirito (also known as Habanero) without an issue.</p>
