A real insider tip – and not just among experts.<br><br>The art of maturation is not just about letting rum sit in barrels for as long as possible. This could sometimes be difficult because, in contrast to ripening in many European countries, the temperatures in Panama are completely different. The proportion of rum that simply evaporates from the barrels during the year is therefore many times higher. As a result, a rum matures 3-4 times as quickly as a Scottish whiskey, but also loses liquid in the barrel correspondingly quickly.
