Description

The definition of the American Single Malt Whiskey Commision:
Made from 100% malted barley. Distilled in a distillery.
Macerated, distilled and matured in the USA.
Matured in oak barrels (smaller than 700 l).
Distilled to no more than 160 proof/80% by volume. Bottled at 80 proof/40% by volume or more.

Westward Whiskey’s answer and interpretation:
Take two-row barley grown and malted in the Northwest.
Every drop comes from the distillery in Portland, Oregon.
Malt, distilled and aged in the heart of the American Northwest.
Aged in new American, lightly charred, 53-gallon oak barrels.
Distilled to approximately 142 proof/71% by volume. Bottled at 90 proof/45% by volume.

Westward Belgian Ardennes is made with an Ardennes farmhouse yeast.
This yeast was named after the Belgian Ardennes forest.
The whiskey is aged in Virgin American Oaks.
The bottling is neither chill-filtered nor colored.

Colour: Amber.
Nose: Fruity, notes of pepper, cherry swirl, bananas.
Taste: Rich, spicy, notes of ice cream cones, sour cherries, honeysuckle.
Finish: Long lasting, hay, fresh cream, caramel.
