<p>Malteco 10 ans is a honey cane rum from Panama. Distilled in columns, it is a light rum that benefits from a complex ageing process using the Solera method. This practice, inherited from the wines of Xerez, consists of blending old and young rums throughout the ageing process. It is said that the older rums "educate" the younger ones.</p><p>This rum won the bronze medal at the Paris Rum Fest in 2016.</p><h3>Nico's from Rhum Attitude tasting notes</h3><p>The nose opens with a balanced rum that floats slightly between vanilla and roast. The oak barrel has been well toasted, giving off dark notes ranging from charcoal to scorched spices. In the heart of the wood, the rum is lighter, and even sweetly acidic.</p><p>With a little air, the cloud dissipates and gives way to a slowly flowing river of vanilla and sweet spices. The oak is now soft and brioche-like.</p><p>The palate is round and gently spicy, with vanilla that settles gently on the tongue. A few more spicy notes wake it up, with the help of a well roasted wood. A little caramel then forms on the palate, with a hint of maple syrup.</p><p>The finish is greedy and caramelised, and lingers with a certain sweetness.</p><p><i>"A well-balanced rum in every respect: roundness, roastiness and spice..."</i></p>
