<p>The name Potcheen is derived from the Irish word for moonshine and from the word "pot", as this spirit used to be distilled mainly secretly and illegally in pots. </p><p>The Potcheen is a clear Irish spirit, which is distilled from barley and was banned in 1661 because of its mostly illegal origin. </p><p>Since 1997 the Potcheen can finally be sold legally again.</p>
